I have been playing Super Smash Bros Brawl since launch on Sunday morning and I love it as much as I hoped I would. I never really got into any of the previous versions so I was surprised at how much I enjoy Brawl. Heres my review. I tried to keep it pointed with just pro’s and cons.
Cons:
– No online tourney mode
– No voice chat
– The gamecube and wavebird controllers are superior to the wii/nunchuck, wiimote sideways and classic controller setups. A Gamecube controller is almost a manditory extra purchase. (in my opinion) They do give you many options so this may not even be a con depending on how you look at it.
– No 2 player co-op online play (unless your playing “with friends” using friend codes) So no playing co-op on the same wii againt “anyone” only can do that with friends on your friend list.
– Friend codes fucking suck. Also the Smash Brawl codes are not even the same codes you may have given out in the past which is another ‘what the fuck?!?’.
– No Megaman. yeah I said it.
– Graphics not HD and although its great graphics for a Wii game… Non HD graphics in a HD age of gaming. to me it looses a point or half a point automatically unless its a game designed to look simple like N+, Tetris etc. So yeah I don’t think I could give any Wii game a 10 unless its a simple puzzle style game.
Pro’s:
– TONS of Characters. Ok there is 35 total. Which is still impresive especially considering there is tons of moves for each character. The taunts are very cool but voice chat would have been better.
– Tons of items, stickers etc.
– Ability to save replays and snapshots on an SD card and also the ability to send those to a friend.
– Lots of modes. Training between matches, 2 on 2 team, tourney, special matches, emissary…theres tons of modes.
– Very customiziable. You can save button mappings and settings to any profile and easily create profiles.
– 200+ Audio Tracks and you can set the frequency of music tracks you like. The music is epic and adds an epic feel to the game. I could not get the theme music out of my head yesterday.
– Tons of stages.
– Online play
– You can create your own, download and share stages… Nintendo will post one a day on wii conenct 24. I think there is also a way to download them on the internet and put them on an SD card. Check here.
Summary:
Don’t let the cons prevent you from getting Super Smash Bros Brawl. I put the cons so that they can answer any questions for those wondering about those features. The bottom line is the game is GREAT. If you have a wii you MUST get this game. Its definitely worth the price when you consider how much fun it is and how much content is included,

About the HD thing you mentioned. As far as i know the Wii isn’t a High Definition gaming system like the PS3 or 360.
So i wouldn’t rate it less for not having HD because you should know this even before you buy the Wii in the first place.

i disagree black attack, i got the game and it’s hands down the best multiplayer game out right now. it’s ridiculously fun if you have friends over and i’d even go so far as to say it’s the best party game ever, best 4 player game too. i could give a shit less about co-op online, i play this shit for the multiplayer. the online multiplayer itself is good and there’s enough modes and variety to keep anyone busy for years. if you own a wii, you NEED this game.

Ok. all I have to say is that Brawl is a near perfect game, aside from some online play let downs this game kicks ass. oh and by the way, they give you a fuck load of options to customize your controller set-up.
