For those wondering, I got the PS3 version. I currently don’t have a 360 and it seems like there are more offerings of arcades sticks on the PS3.

Slip there are the same amount of joystick optiions for both and I have both versions and the 360 version is superior.

too many connection dropouts on psn, much more lag in general… Much more lag. the actual menus even run smoother on the 360 version. It’s sad really. This game is a perfect example of why xbox live is worth the money and you get what you pay for with psn. Your fooling yourself to believe otherwise. It took 12 minutes to get the game on live and about 30 on psn. Also there’s more people on live so there’s noticibly more matches.

I did notice the slight slowdown in the menus for multiplayer stuff, but lag has nothing to do with the services. These games don’t run on dedicated servers. It has to do with the players’ connections. I’ve had matches that were completely lag free. Even my worst matches were better than any other fighting game online. I haven’t had any dropouts and I have absolutely no problems getting a match.

As far as downloading it goes, it took me about 10 minutes to get it. You have to remember that MS updates the marketplace at midnight, Sony updates at 7 pm EST.

So from what you said and what I’ve experienced, there isn’t a difference in quality.

There is a clear difference. But hey whatever makes you feel good about your purchase. Like I said I have both systems and I have this game for both and the online component for the 360 is better. Who cares whether it’s peer to peer or dedicated servers all we want is good lag free online gameplay and the 360 clearly wins. If the dedicated serrvers are what we are paying for with live then its totally worth it with live. There’s nothing worse than having a good match And getting disconnected and it’s way too frequent on psn. tested this for two days Tuesday and Wednesday. You get more matches and they are smoother on the 360 so I plan to be more on the 360 version.

I think you completely missed my point. There aren’t dedicated servers on LIVE. It’s p2p for both games. LIVE has nothing to do with the quality of the matches. MS didn’t make the game. It was Capcom. They did the netcode. It works the same for both games. I’m sorry you’re getting a crappy experience on the PS3 version, but I am telling you that it comes down to who you are playing with. If you get matched with someone who doesn’t have a good connection it’s going to be bad.

So, if I go by what you’re saying, the PS3 version is plagued by dropouts and lag. Which IS NOT the case for me. You can’t take your own experience and generalize like that.

Actually I was told by my Comcast guy, not saying this is true but this is what I was told, basically he said he plays on Xbox Live too and that the games are in fact played IN PART by a bigger server from Xbox or Microsoft. But he said that also the games will go off a HOSTS server as well so basically your connection (if you arent the host) shouldn’t matter very much or plays little to no part in your Xbox Live playing.

I have no idea about the PSN though, and this guy could be wrong but that’s what he said about it.

This is one of those things where until you play both you cant speak on it. When the ps3 version came out I played it for many hours lol. There were dropouts etc. but I didnt realize the quality differences (issues?) until I played the 360 version that came out the next day. For a service that has more people on it (live) overall the matches had less lag. You mey be experiencing what you think are smooth matches on psn but they are smoother on the 360 overall. Thats my point.

Like I said before your going to sway towards what you feel will justify your purchase but I played it on both systems ALOT and the xbox 360 version is a better experience online with this game. yes psn is good online for some games (wipeout hd is great online) but for this game the 360 version is better. On the ps3 version mics are set to off by default like almost discoouraging chat and less people actually talk or have decent mics which to me is weak. all of this adds up for the overall experience.

Speaking of capcom …I went to two events this year (evo, sf club bklyn) before this game launched and they showed only the 360 version at both. Matter of fact if you look at the gamespot HD remix tournament and other previews like on gametrailers you will notice that its always the 360 version that they were showing. interesting stuff.
