E-mails are being sent out today and tomorrow to those chosen to participate in the new Preview of the Xbox Live update, which includes the Facebook and Twitter services.

So i’ve spent a little time with the update checking out both Facebook and Twitter and for the most part it’s good.
You can update your status, look at photos and that of your friends.
My only problem is that is not fully integrated with the dashboard. They are separate applications.
This means you cannot use Facebook or Twitter whilst playing a game, you can’t even be signed in whilst just skimming through the dashboard. This for me is a big drawback. You have to ask yourself the question why you would choose to use these sevices through your 360 when it’s alot easier to use them as normal through your PC or laptop?
You cannot have both apps open at the same time on your 360 whereas you can on your PC.

They are nice additions but just haven’t been fully realised. It’s a shame really.

Never even signed up since I dont have my xbox with me right now and I needed some numbers to sign up.
But usually when I play I have a laptop or my iPhone on me so I dont think I would use it much.

I downloaded the Facebook and Twitter apps today. On the positive side they both were quite easy to manipulate. However, they seem to be completely useless to your typical gamer as such I likely won’t be using these either. Like the rest of you, I often encounter douchebags and I dont wont them follow’n me or harassing my FB.

Ye man, unless they fully Intergrate into the dashboard and let you use them whilst in game then I won’t be using it either. Damn even the last fm can’t be played whilst in a game. Shit is gay.

I’m loving the last.fm app, it does suck you can’t use it while playing games, but at the same time it’s like having a sattelite radio right on my HD tv with the awesome sound system i have too, i use it if im cleaning up and stuff like that, or if im just chilling with people or anything, it’s a welcome addition to the xbl gold membership, makes it more worth it for me.

as for facebook and twitter, blahh. i suppose if a problem happens with my laptop i’ll be glad to have facebook to update all my friends with w.e im doing, i dont use twitter so idc about that.

i am liking the new zune video marketplace and stuff though, i like the fact you can purchase HD movies for like 5 bucks more than it would cost to rent them, though I don’t have the harddrive space to store them anyways 😕

has anyone tried out the movie party thing? im curious how it works… could i rent a movie and invite my xbl party and we could all watch it? or does everyone have to rent it?
