I wanna use this thread just to keep all Playstation Move related topics together.
I’ll be posting up my full first day impressions of the Move probably tomorrow morning.
I’ll just do a quick few thoughts now.

First of all, the controller feels great, the face buttons are easy to get to and i don’t know why people have been bitching about them being so small, they have honestly not caused me a problem and they feel good.

I’ve not really played many games today. The retail version of Sports Champions and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition did not get delivered today, so those impressions will have to wait.
I did however play the demo versions of:

Sports Champions
Eye Pet Move Edition
The Shoot

and i am also downloading the Heavy Rain Move demo as the patch has not been released yet, but as of this time it is still in my download queue.

So, the Move it’self. It works, and it works better than Wii Motion Plus. There is no pointer flicker like what you see with the Wii, it’s nice and smooth and follows your every move.
I don’t really wanna go into how the controller actually works on the tech side of it coz i ain’t that tech savvy and to be honest i’m not arsed. It’s works and that’s all i need to know.

One of the biggest problems i think alot of people will face is that if you are playing with it in a really bright room, it’s not going to work. Basically the colours on the ball top is what the Move uses to track the motion and as i experienced today, if bright light is shining directly onto it then the colour can not be made out, either by the human eye or the Playstation Eye, therefore an error message may occur saying the controller cannot be tracked. I tackled this by closing the curtains and then it worked fine. The room was still bright, but not so much that it affected the experience.

The demo’s i played were fun but they were more tech demo’s than anything else, i mean i’ve already bought Sports Champions and after playing the Eye Pet demo i might pick that up because it’s something my nieces will enjoy but the others aren’t really games i would recommend buying. It shows the potential of the technology and it’s up to the developers to begin to implement these controls properly. The tech is at their disposal.
There are already some very promising games on the horizon that are incorporating Move, Killzone 3, Socom 4 & Sorcery and i can’t wait to get my hands on them.

I decided I wont be picking one up just yet. Will get it maybe November/December possibly then. Just been spending money too much lately and gotta slow down. Also there isnt anything I really need to play with the Move just yet.
And I got some other games in my possession your me to spend my time with.

LOL @ eyepet. I actually tried this demo with a developer walking me through it at e3 and it was a snoozefest.

my order has been shipped and should be here today. I havent been buying shit really over the past few months so fuck it im due for some splurging last games I bought were read dead which I got for $20 and bioshock 2 which I got for like $12 😄

Played alot of Sport’s Champions today.
Quick note for you Brook. The game supports custom soundtracks.
I’m sure that will make you happy 😄

Anyway, i had alot of fun with it. My brother and I spent a good 20 minutes on it just kicking the shit out of each other in the Gladiator Duel.
It definately makes you work up a sweat. My arms are actually killing me now because i have played it so much.

I completed the Bronze cup in the Archery game. I like the facebook integration. After i completed and won the bronze cup the game asks you to pose for the camera so it can photograph you. It then gives you the option to upoload this picture to facebook. a nice little touch. Only thing though, the quality of the PS Eye is soooooooooo bad that the pictures come out horribly.
I don’t think it would be so bad if the lighting in your room is perfect but if it’s not then like mine, yours will end up coming out like this too lol

Resident Evil 5 was quite decent whilst using the Move, however, my Navigation Controller did not get delievered today so had to play the game whilst holding the dualshock 3. It was not comfortable. Infact my wrist was hurting because the controller was not supported with 2 hands, and with the dualshock 3 having quite abit of weight to it, it just did not feel comfortable enough to keep playing.

yo I have my move bundle and navigation controller but I cant use it in my living room. The setup I been using to go through the wall for my usb GT steering wheel does not work with the camera.

I been using cat5e cables with usb adapters on the end but the shit doesnt work with usb 2.0. So the ps3 doesn’t recognize the damn camera.

So I ordered a true usb extension cable and will have to wait like 3 days to get it and then ill have to test it and run it through the wall …. fucking drama!

im going to test move in my office so we can talk on the podcast.

Well I played the demo last night an it was ok, but it’s gonna take abit of time to adjust to the new gestures.

I’m hoping to start a new game tonight so maybe have some proper impressions tomorrow.

So Szuter i was playing some Heavy Rain tonight and honestly the Move controls do not work well with this game in my opinion.
It’s like the gestures don’t seem to respond appropriately or some gestures will need you to reach your controller as far up into the air or to the side as it will go.
For example, using the normal dualshock 3 controller, an action might appear on screen telling you to “move the right thumbstick until the box fills up”
Using the Move controller though you have to hold down the trigger button whilst moving your arm in a certain direction, and sometimes that could mean having your arm held at a 90 degree angle to make the gesture work.
My explanation might not see very clear but trust me it doesn’t feel good. We both know this game has a fantastic story and using the Move controls just ruins that immersive feeling.
It’s a shame but they definately don’t feel like they have been implemented properly.
I’d recommend anyone to carry on using the Dualshock controller.

I’ve been playing quite alot of Resident Evil 5, and it feels alot better now i am using the navigation controller. I know it’s not mandatory to use it but it just feels a whole lot better to use than the dualshock with just one hand.

Anyway, going back to what we said on the podcast. The Move controls with this game are excellent, but the only downside is the design of the game it’s self. It still feels very very clunky. I don’t like having to use the inventory system on the fly because sometimes it’s difficult to do anything when you are surrounded by enemies, and more often than not it turns into a panic and you lose some serious health.
It’s not scary and what should be straight forward action pieces turn into a chore because of achaic game design.

I do however wish that now we have Move controls i don’t see why they couldn’t port over a HD version of Resident Evil 4 to the PS3. I mean the game was on PS2 anyway, give it a coat of HD paint and slap it on a blu-ray, i’d buy it.

Infact, i wish they would remake all the main Resident Evil games with the over the shoulder 3rd person view with HD visuals and Move support. It would be sick.

Hmm I guess I will hold of on the Move for a little more.
And will replay Heavy Rain soon. I was waiting for the Move patch and since it aint all that I will just use the controller and try it out with Move eventually when I get it.

I got my extension cable in yesterday and played A LOT more with move and….

I dont think anyone should run out and buy it… BUT…

If you have a family or play games with people over its a winner. The games with the camera that put you on screen are funny as hell.

When the Virtua Tennis comes out i think it will justify having it and Im not mad I got one at launch but theres not much to do with it yet to be bummed about not having it. The killer game isnt here yet but its a cool new toy thats for sure. It has the wii beat for sure tech wise.

yo can curve your wrist and turn like your opening a door with a key and all that is recognized. The tumble demo which is the PSN version of Boom Blox is great.

Im looking forward to the upcoming patch to Flower that enables Move support.
