Earlier this week, we reported on the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle that was announced by SCEA at Destination PlayStation to be released in Q2 2008. Consisting of the game, an 80 GB PS3 and a DualShock 3 controller, SCEA kept the exact release date a mystery in their press releases. That mystery has been solved, as Konami announced today that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released on June 12, 2008.

Konami also answered a couple of questions related to the multiplayer starter pack of Metal Gear Online that will be included within MGS4, as well as its pre-order bonuses. Supporting up to 16 players, the Starter Pack will be a squad-based online multiplayer tactical shooter in the MGS universe. To promote this feature, Konami has included two special bonuses for consumers that pre-order the game when it becomes available in April of this year. First of all, customers will receive The Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD that contains a prologue recapping the franchise, a 20th anniversary retrospective, character bios and a collection of trailers for MGS4. The pre-order will also have a download code and instructions to access the Metal Gear Online beta when it launches on April 21st, 2008. The beta will run for approximately 2 weeks.

Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the conclusion of the series, and will feature Solid Snake facing off against Liquid Ocelot in various stages around the world, including the Middle East and South America. To aid him in his mission, a series of old friends, including Meryl Silverburgh, Roy Campbell and Raiden will return to the game, and Snake will use features like a new Close Quarters Combat moves and a new camouflage system to defeat his enemies.

I read in an interview with Hideo Kojima that this won’t be the last we hear from the Metal Gear series.

This won’t be coming out on 360 as far as i know.
Simply because the game is far too large to fit on the 360’s dvd’s.
I read in an interview with Hideo Kojima that they had a difficult time fitting the whole game onto one blu-ray disc.

i read somewhere that it can come to the 360 but we would have to wait a little longer
