So I spent more time than I though i would running through the Killzone 2 demo yesterday. These videos show pretty much the whole demo. The graphics in the game are pretty stunning and crisp. The game does a great job of immersing you into the war zone and your soldier commades do a good job of holding their own for the most part. The mayhem of war is delivered through great visuals and good sound design. Read on for more videos and impressions.
The controls were very accessible and it was pretty easy to get acclimated to the controls. The game felt like a cross between Gears of War 2 with the included cover mechanics and Call of Duty 4 with the iron sight shooting mechanic. In terms of combat mechanics Killzone 2 seems to take some of the best aspects of these games which is great. The player you control runs with momentum and that does take some getting used to but it helps to distinguish the Killzone 2 from other shooters.
In all I had a good time with the demo and I will be buying the game. Hopefully the full single player campaign will be as fun if not more as the slice of gameplay offered in this demo. The pacing of the game should also help to separate the experience from other shooters. I am looking forward to trying the multiplayer modes. In all Killzone 2 is looking really promising!
