Well, The Orange Box has been released officially to much fanfare and rave reviews. Why, you ask?

BECAUSE IT’S 5 GAMES FOR THE PRICE OF 1.

Not to mention the games are…

Half Life 2
Half Life 2 Episode 1
Half Life 2 Episode 2
Portal
Team Fortress 2

And not one of these is a bad game. HL2 and HL2E1 & 2 are EXCELLENT. HL2 is an absolute must play if you haven’t already played it on PC and even so, it’s a step up graphically and it’s always nice to play on a big ass TV instead of a computer screen. The two expansion packs that come along with HL2 are also equally as great as the game itself and expand upon it wonderfully. Portal is a fun puzzle solving action shooting game and TF2 is a multiplayer objective oriented team deathmatch type of deal with a VERY different spin on the graphics. The first TF was one of the most popular online communities for a long time and this one is steadily growing and I’ve heard good things about it.

I’m def gonna pick this shit up, five games for the price of one is a damned good deal. You CAN’T go wrong with that. Especially seeing as how one of them is one of the most important influential FPS games of all time.

I strongly suggest everyone go cop this great deal of a game.

So, here is what you get all on one glorious disc:

Half Life 2 – A beautiful port of the award winning PC game with lovely new lighting and textures (so it doesn’t look too dated when compared to the rest of the box’s contents). If you never played Half Life 2 then this is absolutely essential gaming. The campaign is around 12-15 hours long and is one of the best in recent memory. It should also run a damn sight better than the awful Xbox port.

Half Life 2: Episodes 1 + 2 – Episode One was released for PC a few years ago and is ported with the same improvements to lighting and textures that the original Half Life 2 has received. It is the first of 3 sequels to HL2 and has a campaign that clocks in at around 6+ hours.
Episode 2 is brand new for both PC and console so wil undoubtedly be the best looking of the three. It’s campaign will be similar in length to Episode 1 and the story will start exactly where Episode 1 finished.

Portal – A first-person-puzzle game. Basically you have a gun that can create a portal
which can teleport you and objects around complex puzzles. It’s hard to properly explain so I recommend watching the trailer at the official site.

Team Fortress 2 – The multiplayer game of the pack. Team Fortress 2 is a team and team based shooter where you are assigned a role and must tactically use your character to the best of their abilities.
There are nine classes which are, Medic, Engineer, Sniper, Spy, Heavy Weapons, Demo-man, Pyro, Soldier and Scout. Your stats are tracked by class or as a whole and you’re ranked. There are currently 6 maps out which have INDIVIDUALLY UNIQUE gameplay modes which are designed for them and them alone.

To give you an idea of ONE of the character classes from TF2 check this definition of the Spy class out, it sounds dope.

Spy

The spy is lightly armored and is used for infiltrating, assassinating and sabotaging the enemy team and is capable of diguising himself as any class on either side. When undisguised, the spy speaks with a Franco-Spanish accent, and wears a team-coloured, pin-stripe suit with a team-coloured, full-face balaclava. He wields a revolver, a butterfly knife, an electric sapper, and a disguises kit. He chain smokes even when in disguise. While disguised, allies perceive the spy as usual but with a paper mask of the class he is disguised as over his face. Spies randomly use an alias name of an enemy, occasionally having his cover blown by the player he is mimicking. Spies can take damage when disguised and show blood. Since teammates can no longer damage each other, players often shoot their allies and then watch to see if they bleed. Spies also have the ability to cloak for a maximum of ten seconds. This cloak must recharge after use[20], and can be disrupted by enemy fire, contact with an enemy player or by being set alight by the Pyro’s flamethrower. Spies cannot attack through the cloak, but they can disguise whilst cloaked and vice versa. Using a combination of cloaking and disguises allows spies infiltrate the enemy team with little trouble, although a spy must be careful to avoid being spotted cloaking or decloaking. Armed with a powerful revolver[20] and a butterfly knife that can kill instantly if used from behind, a spy loses their disguise the moment they attack. Spies also carry electronic sappers that are placed on enemy structures, disabling them and slowly damaging them to destruction unless an engineer repairs their sabotaged equipment. A spy’s disguise is not lost when he places a sapper.[20].

The concept is fucking dope as hell.

So today I gave in and bought it. And let me tell you right now, it’s fucking incredible and so far I’ve only played TF2, LOL. TF2 is such an amazingly fun multi-player game, one of the few where you really need teamwork and no class is overpowered. CTF and Territory Control/Attack & Defend are all great and work PERFECT on each map they’re on. There’s only 6 maps but a single game can last from 1/2 – 1 hour usually. All the classes are fun as fuck, it’s fun working as a team, the graphics are unique and cool looking in a cartoonish violence sort of way and it’s simply one of the most enjoyable team based multiplayer FPS games to come out in a long time.

Halo 3 is all about individual talent, this is about your talent and how well your team can work together. If you like strategizing and building up a team and working together to stomp heads, you’ll like TF2. I can already tell I’m gonna be playing this for a long time to come.

On top of this all is HL2, Portal, and Ep. 1 & 2 and it only costs $60 for all 5! How can you go wrong w/ that shit? HL2 is one of THE BEST single player FPS games ever. Episode 1 is dope and Episode 2 is exclusive to this pack and supposedly the best of the 3. I’ve heard nothing but good shit from everyone about Portal.

If you pass up the chance to get 5 DOPE games for the price of one then you’re robbing yourself.

BUMP this shit, ppl are seriously sleeping on this shit which is prob in the words of IGNXbox360.com “the best deal in video game history”. TF2 is honestly imo the best multiplayer game on 360 right now [til cod4], solely for the fact that the teamwork required to win will always prevail over individual skill. Shit is fun as FUCK! Not to mention the inclusion of 4 AMAZINGLY GOOD single player games, the best of which being HL2 which is one of the best single player FPS games in history, same with Ep. 2 and Portal is fun as fuck too.

Sounds good to me. And the stand alone version of Half Life 2 is still ranked in the top ten ranked games of all time. So you’re getting a top ten ranked game and 4 other amazing games, for the price of one all of which are insanely dope.
