I got this email a few days ago and found it pretty interesting that GameFly is testing out a program that allows you to send them your complete games. Complete as in manual and box. The wack part is that as of right now the credits you get from sending in your games can only be used to pay for the service. Unfortunately you cannot send in your games and apply those credits to buying from the Gamefly store. Now that would be great since the prices they buy your games for are pretty competitive when compared to Ebay. If they do it right and add this they may be able to get at Gamestops domination of the game trade-in market. That would be something right?… read more…

They’ve actually had this going for a while now and the credit on membership fees is actually pretty great, coming from the perspective of not wanting a mountain of games sitting around that I never play which is one of the reasons I got on board with Gamefly to begin with. That and the obvious savings over buying everything I want to play. I’d be living in a box if I did that.

Put it in perspective and it becomes particularly relevant now since you can more or less pay for a good hunk of your Gamefly subscription with trades instead of the increasingly elusive dollar. It’s pretty smart when you think about it.

Depending on what you might have to trade in, you could be looking at a good 3 – 6 months of Gamefly. That doesn’t suck. It’s essentially playing for “free” and who isn’t down with free these days?
