Yeah I agree as well. I would like to add also that not every reviewer should review certain games. Many games get dinged for things they should not. Like going into a dynasty warriors game you know to expect a fair amount of repetition so I hate it when reviewers ding them for that.
On the flip side I feel that back in the days before the “reviews web” I used to buy a ton more bad games and I used to trade in games much more frequently. I think as long as reviews are read as a way to learn about the games and reviewers describe the mechanical flaws and sucesses its all good. But knocking games because of things it wasnt setting out to do is just foolish and I see that in some uncharted 3 reviews specifically about “dated mechanics” which is bogus because thats subjective. When is a mechanic “dated”? Does tetris have dated mechanics? Some of these reviewers make up the dumbest shit to ding games for and the developers suffer. We also suffer because we dont get sequels sometimes and the games dont get known. Vanquish didnt get praised enough for innovating on its progressive and offensive approach to the third person genre and cover mechanics and at the same time uncharted 3 with its fine tuned and polished traversal, cover and shooting mechanics gets dinged for not innovating? Bogus.
I look at the games press like hiphop press. Tons of people review lil wayne albums really well but that doesnt mean the albums are any good. Just because you put syrup on something doesnt make it pancakes. :lol:
