Also are you using a component to VGA cable? Your VGA cable may only have 14 pins instead of 15.
I am not using the PVR but the way I run my setup I am not using the passthrough video feed from the recorder to watch as I play because of potential lag.
What I am using is a component distribution amp to split the signal without loss before its recorded then feed it to the recorder and viewing devices.
This way one feed from the console goes in and one goes out to the TV in my other room, and/or one feed goes to a computer monitor (if im using that) and a separate feed goes out to the recording capture device.
